UK minister James Cleverly sorry for ‘joke’ about date rape

LONDON — U.Ok. House Secretary James Cleverly apologized for making a joke about drugging his spouse with the date rape drug rohypnol. 

Talking on Sky Information in his first spherical of interviews because the row, the house secretary stated he “regrets” the comment, including: “It was a joke that I made and naturally, I remorse it. I apologized instantly and that apology is heartfelt.”

The house secretary confronted calls to give up after the remarks had been revealed, with Labour’s Shadow House Secretary Yvette Cooper saying “spiking is a disturbing and critical crime,” and that it’s “really unbelievable that the house secretary made such appalling jokes.”

Chief govt of marketing campaign group the Fawcett Society Jemima Olchawski in the meantime described the remarks as “sickening” and referred to as for Cleverly to go.

However Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s spokesperson stated over the Christmas break that it was “proper that the house secretary apologized” and that Sunak now “considers the matter closed.”
