BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 5. Moldovan shoppers
can have entry to the power sources coming from the
Azerbaijan-EU inexperienced power hall, Victor Parlicov, power
minister of Moldova, stated in an unique interview with Pattern.

Parlicov highlighted Azerbaijan’s dedication to embracing the
inexperienced agenda regardless of its abundance of conventional power
assets.

“Azerbaijan’s endeavors, such because the venture to put a cable
underneath the Black Sea for supplying inexperienced power to Europe and
home initiatives for renewable power manufacturing, make it
attainable to create new power connections between Europe and the
Caspian area,” he acknowledged.

Parlicov defined that whereas Moldova will not be immediately
linked to such initiatives attributable to geographical constraints, it
stands to profit not directly by way of the Romanian market.

“Given our geographic constraints, establishing a direct
connection between Moldova and such a venture poses challenges.
Nonetheless, we anticipate oblique advantages by way of our integration
into the European power market through Romania. Moldova is actively
enhancing its power infrastructure by growing strong connection
strains with the Romanian power system. We anticipate that inside
5-6 years, Moldova will seamlessly combine into the European
power market, aligning intently with Romania. Consequently, if the
cable reaches the Romanian market, Moldovan shoppers can have
entry to the identical power sources. Whereas the direct passage of the
cable by way of Moldova will not be economically or logistically
crucial, our sturdy curiosity and help for the venture stem
from our broader objective of integrating into the EU market,” the
minister famous.

Parlicov highlighted the disparity between Moldova’s power
system and that of Azerbaijan, noting that Moldova’s system is
smaller in scale.

“Consequently, the dimensions of initiatives in Moldova can be
considerably smaller. Nonetheless, the mechanisms we make use of to draw
investments are comparable, and we’re eager on exchanging experiences
with Azerbaijan on this regard. Moldova conducts auctions for
roughly 60 megawatts of photo voltaic power and barely over 100
megawatts of wind power. The public sale mannequin ensures that the
firm providing the perfect value for shoppers secures a 15-year
contract to promote power on the agreed value. This mechanism not
solely ensures sure revenues but in addition fosters competitiveness,
making certain the very best costs for our shoppers,” stated the
minister.

Parlicov emphasised Moldova’s transition from dependence on a
single provider, stating, “It was essentially necessary for us to
break away from reliance on a sole provider.”

He affirmed Moldova’s readiness to acquire fuel on industrial
phrases, marking a major shift of their power procurement
technique.
