A senior Tory has been criticised after he urged younger individuals might be a part of the Military in return for having their scholar debt lowered.

He stated it might be a part of a “marketing campaign of persuasion” to get individuals to enlist within the armed forces.

Sir David, who’s chair of the RUSI defence think-tank, stated it might be a part of a “carrot and stick” strategy to getting individuals to enroll.

“With younger individuals, you would say for instance, we’ll knock a bit off your scholar mortgage debt should you come and participate on this,” he instructed presenter Tom Swarbrick.

However his remarks drew criticism on social media, with some stating that Sir David didn’t tackle scholar debt, or be a part of the military, himself.
