A person serving life with out parole was recaptured Monday after escaping from jail in southeast Texas, in line with the Texas Division of Prison Justice. Officers say the inmate’s mom helped him escape by giving him a few of her garments to put on.
Robert Yancy Jr., 39, was captured shortly after 8 a.m. in Matagorda County, in line with TDCJ spokesperson Amanda Hernandez.
Hernandez stated Yancy was arrested at a park in Palacios, about 45 miles west of the Texas Division of Corrections’ Clemens Unit after two civilians acknowledged him and referred to as police.
Yancy is serving life with out parole after his 2022 conviction of sexual abuse of a kid in Victoria County.
Yancy escaped from the jail Sunday afternoon and Hernandez stated two folks, together with his mom, suspected of serving to Yancy escape have been arrested.
“She (his mom) got here to the unit and he or she was carrying a black sweater and a beanie,” Hernandez stated. “He put that on and was in a position to go away the unit along with her, simply walked out of the unit and left.”
In line with the Brazoria County Pct. 4 Constable Workplace, Yancy left the jail in a white 2021 Nissan Versa.
“We wish to thank everybody concerned for working collectively and capturing this harmful particular person as shortly as potential,” the workplace stated in an announcement.
Yancy’s mom Leonor Priestle faces a cost of allow/facilitate an escape and Russell Williams was charged with prison intent to flee, officers stated. Yancy himself faces felony escape fees.
