“We’ve registered an FIR after receiving a criticism from a lady alleging assault by NIA officers. We’re wanting into the criticism,” the police officer advised PTI.
IPC Part 354 (for assaulting any girl, to outrage her modesty) was hooked up to the criticism, the police officer added.
A group of the NIA was allegedly attacked by a mob on Saturday when it went to arrest two major suspects within the 2022 blast case in Purba Medinipur district, sparking a political slugfest with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accusing the investigators of assaulting the villagers.
The Nationwide Investigation Company (NIA) stated considered one of its officers was injured and a car was broken within the assault that occurred in Bhupatinagar.
In the meantime, police are but to arrest anybody in reference to the assault on the NIA officers who’ve complained to the Bhupatinagar police station, he added.”The matter is being investigated,” he stated.
The assault on the NIA group evoked reminiscences of January 5 when a group of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was attacked by a mob in North 24 Parganas district’s Sandeshkhali throughout a search on the home of TMC chief Shajahan Sheikh in reference to alleged irregularities within the public distribution system.
