Safe Bulkers boosts kamsarmax orderbook in Japan – Splash247

New York-listed Protected Bulkers has continued its newbuilding push with a deal for one more kamsarmax in Japan.

The 82,000 dwt ship, a sister vessel to a number of Protected Bulkers newbuilds, has been designed to satisfy the Part 3 necessities of the Vitality Effectivity Design Index and likewise adjust to the NOx-Tier III rules.

“In line with our ESG technique, we have now positioned an extra order for a Part 3 newbuild focusing on a gradual fleet renewal and the next operational and monetary benefits related to it,” stated Loukas Barmparis, president of Protected Bulkers.

In December, the corporate booked a kamsarmax newbuild which might be delivered by an unnamed Japanese yard within the first half of 2026. The newest newbuild is ready to ship within the third quarter of 2026.

Together with this order, Protected Bulkers has 9 newbuild vessels for supply between 2024 and 2027, two of that are methanol dual-fuel booked in October.

The Polys Hajioannou-led firm counts 46 vessels in its fleet, consisting of 11 panamaxes, 9 kamsarmaxes, 18 post-panamaxes and eight capes.
